One person has died following a crash between a car and a truck between Wellsford and Warkworth.

State highway 1 in Dome valley near Wayby Valley Rd has been closed in both directions between Wellsford and Kaipara Flats Rd and traffic is being diverted down Kaipara Flats Rd, Tauhoa Rd and SH16. The crash occurred at 12.42pm on Wednesday. 

Police are currently conducting a serious crash investigation, with SH1 most likely staying closed until late evening. Police and NZTA advise to delay travel and to avoid the area if possible.
