Uncle Phil, The Matakana Village Pub, 5.00 p.m.

Uncle Phil is an absolute legend of the decks and the nightlife around NZ. Originally from Wellington, back in the bad old days, Phil became a must-see, must-boogie drawcard of Auckland nightlife. Matakana put on your dancing shoes and kickstart you weekend the right way. If there is a groove Uncle Phil will find it. Dancing shoes optional!



Frisky Business, Leigh Sawmill Cafe, 8.00 p.m.

Go gack to the 80s with its neon lights, big hair styles and crazy outfits, but be prepared – you will dance and sing all night! Frisky Business will be playing songs from some of the most iconic and influential bands and artists of the 80s live… Michael Jackson, Prince, Wham, David Bowie, Tears for Fears, Eurythmics, Cameo and many, many more. Warm up your dance moves, get your 80’s outfit out of the storage and join us for a great night!

Warkworth A&P Lifestyle Show, Warkworth Showgrounds, 9.00 a.m.

Family fun and interaction is the name of the game at this year’s Warkworth A&P Show. Highlights include free kids’ rides and entertainment, a new fun look at where food comes from and a chance to try horse agility, as well as old A&P favourites, such as woodchopping, sheep shearing and all-day live music.



Matakana Tennis Open, Matakana Tennis Club, 8.00 a.m.

The 2nd annual Matakana Tennis Open will be played on Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd of March at the beautiful village club in Matakana. Saturday will see the round play and Sunday, the semi-finals and finals. There will also be a not-to-be missed Barn Party with food, drinks, music and fun activities on Saturday evening!


Rainbow Valley Farms Open Day, Rainbow Valley Farm Matakana, Tours at 11.00, 12.00 and 1.00.

Many of you will have good memories of visiting Rainbow Valley Farm and learning about permaculture with Joe Polaischer and Trish Allen in the 1990s and 2000s. New owners, Matthew Luxon and Waveney Warth, are working to restore the farm, the native bush and the connection with the community. Bring sturdy shoes. You are welcome to BYO picnic and find a nice spot. Arrive anytime from 10:30 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. Leave by 2:30 p.m.
