Santa Claus had a busy day in Warkworth on Sunday.
He attended the Jennian Homes Santa Parade that kicked off at 11:30 a.m. Lots of locals with decked out festive floats took part and the main streets in Warkworth were shut down to traffic to allow the fun to happen.
The day of festive fun didn't stop at just the parade though. There were lolly scrambles, face painting, dance displays and photo opportunities with Santa himself. Jennian homes also awarded one lucky parade participant with a mini Jennian Homes playhouse for a family or community group.
The effort and creativity on display in this year’s Christmas floats were incredible, with the Most Innovative and People’s Choice Award going to Boost Chiropractic for their super long spine float decorated with tinsel and baubles. Other local businesses and community groups got involved, with floats entered by everyone from Warkworth Primary School to New World Warkworth.
The Warkworth Lions Club's float was the winner of the Community and Social Groups division. The float featured the community piano and a friendship seat. These seats have been a recent project of the Lions Club. Friendship seats are a safe place for children who are struggling or just wanting to meet new people to sit and make connections, and the Lions have given these seats to five local schools.
The Santa Parade was concluded by 1:45 p.m. Once again, it proved to be a great community event: a great day out for the family and a fun way for businesses to get their names out there.
