Road Closure: SH 1 Kaitaia to Okaihau (Mangamuka Gorge)

Due to slips in the Mangamuka Gorge, this section of SH1 is now closed in both directions. Delay your journey or consider using SH10 as an alternative.

• Detour route - Northbound traffic: turn left on Mangamuka Rd, continue on Broadwood Rd, continue on Awaroa Rd, continue on Awaroa Rd, continue on Pukepoto Rd to Kaitaia township. which is not suitable for Heavy Vehicles. Southbound traffic: reverse. Or consider using State Highway 10 as an alternative.
