Matakana Village is set to come alive with wine, food and live music as Vines & Finds returns on Sunday 21 December, offering locals and visitors a relaxed way to tackle last-minute Christmas shopping.
Running from 12pm to 3pm — with festivities likely stretching a little longer — the event combines the best of Matakana’s food and drink scene with live entertainment and boutique village shopping, all wrapped in a festive summer atmosphere.
Live music will be provided by The Pipi Pickers, a much-loved four-piece bluegrass band known for their energetic performances and foot-stomping rhythms. Featuring guitar, mandolin, banjo and bass, the band is a stalwart of the region’s folk and bluegrass scene, with appearances at venues and festivals across New Zealand and Australia.
Food lovers will be well catered for, with two popular local Italian favourites on site.
Pasta Di Giõ will be serving their famous Pasta Alla Ruota, freshly prepared in a cheese wheel and perfect for pairing with a glass of local wine.
Italian in the Village will also be dishing up their signature comfort dishes, adding to the warm, communal feel of the afternoon.
Local wine growers will be pouring a selection of Matakana’s finest wines, while Matakana Gin will be mixing refreshing summer cocktails, including classic gin and tonics — ensuring there’s something to suit every taste.
Alongside the food, drink and music, visitors are encouraged to wander through Matakana Village’s distinctive stores, chat with passionate local retailers and discover thoughtful gifts not found anywhere else. The focus is on enjoying the experience as much as ticking items off the Christmas list.
With good food, great company and live music setting the tone, Vines & Finds promises a festive afternoon that proves Christmas shopping doesn’t have to be stressful.
