The community food bank in Kaiwaka called Te Pātaka o Kaiwaka was broken into on Thursday with a large amount of food stolen, that is used to help those in need.

Their freezer has been stripped of the sausages, mince, bacon, and chicken breasts. Other items stolen include laundry liquid detergents and capsules, stain removers, shampoos and conditioners, 1 kg milk powders, Just Juice, coffee, sugar, crackers. Pictures of the items have been posted on the Kaiwaka community page.
Many of these items were new donations which came in from the church groups and the few company donors they have Every item they work hard to get and appreciate.
This is a real blow for the community.
Police have been contacted and the food bank is asking local businesses to share video footage.
