We know how important State Highway 1 over the Brynderwyn Hills is—it’s a critical route for people travelling, as well as for moving freight and produce around the country. Here's a look at the progress we're making to get the road open.
Our teams are facing challenging conditions with the ground still moving above and below them, but they’re pushing as hard as they can to get this road cleared and these communities reconnected.
Keep an eye on our page for regular updates on our progress. Check road conditions on our website before travelling: https://www.journeys.nzta.govt.nz/auckland/ and https://www.journeys.nzta.govt.nz/northland/. Our website is updated 24/7 with the latest information on state highway closures and disruptions.
Friday’s rain caused some small slips, but they've been cleared and we're still tracking well. Based on the latest assessments, we’re aiming to fully reopen the Brynderwyns route in late March, and we’re hoping some controlled access can happen prior to that.
