A road worker from Wharehine Contractors was hit by a car yesterday morning while working on a footpath on Mason Heights Road, Warkworth.

Mason Heights is undergoing foot construction, but despite the area being coned off and clearly signed, a vehicle turning from Woodcocks Road into Mason Heights struck the crew member.

The worker sustained bruises and lacerations but was fortunate to avoid fractures. He has since been released from the hospital, and the community extends their heartfelt thoughts to him as he recovers.

Local authorities urge drivers to exercise caution around construction zones to prevent further accidents.
