It is now possible to get from Auckland to Whangarei and beyond, but expect stop/go, delays and be cautious driving out there!

CLOSED

• Pakiri Hill Road – blocked and not passable use Matakana Valley Road.
• SH1 DOME Valley is closed. Due to slips & fallen trees SH1 is closed through the Dome Valley, between Kaipara Flats Rd and Wayby Valley Rd, USE SH16.
• SH1 closed at Brynderwyns, take alternative Waipu route.
• SH 1 Mangamuka Gorge: CLOSED due to slips. Detour through SH10

OPEN

• SH1 from Auckland until Warkworth is open, then you need to take Matakana Valley Road or SH16 to get further north. As Dome Valley and Brynderwyns are closed.
• Matakana Valley Road – slips, down to one lane, be very careful. Large vehicles won’t make it. Stop/go in place.
• SH16 under caution. Take extra care, drive with caution as there are patches where the road is narrowed with slips and trees but still passable. Possible to get from Auckland to Whangarei using SH16, SH1, Waipu detour.
• SH 16 Waimauku to Helensville: OPEN (8am Update) Drive with care.
• SH 14 Dargaville to Maungatapere: OPEN (8am update) Drive with care
• SH 12 Dargaville, near Baylys Rd: OPEN (8am update) Drive with care
• SH 15 Maungatapere to Twin Bridges: OPEN (8am update) Drive with care
