Traffic between Warkworth and Matakana is being diverted via Sandspit and Sharp Roads, after a vehicle hit a power pole and brought cables down onto Matakana Road, between Ascension Winery and Warkworth Golf Club, late this morning.

Emergency services are attending and the road will remain closed until contractors can remove the cables and make the area safe. Police said there were no serious injuries as a result of the crash.

UPDATE TUE 22ND FEB 4:52PM:

Road is now open, debris has been cleared. No one has been injured.
