Auckland road users are being advised to expect significant disruption on Saturday morning as a Pro-Palestine protest is planned to cross the Harbour Bridge.
Demonstrators are scheduled to gather at Stafford Park in Northcote at 9.30am before marching south across the bridge and finishing at Victoria Park in central Auckland. The march has been organised to call for New Zealand to impose sanctions on Israel over its military actions in Gaza.
The New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) said it had been advised by police to prepare for protest activity and is working with Auckland Transport and NZ Police to manage the event.
Heavy congestion and delays are expected for southbound traffic entering the city, with flow-on impacts anticipated on both sides of the bridge and across the wider road network. Motorists are being urged to allow extra time for travel, avoid the bridge if possible, or use the Western Ring Route via state highways 16 and 18.
NZTA and Auckland Transport will monitor the transport network through the Auckland Traffic Operations Centre and provide real-time updates for drivers.
