Police are asking witnesses to the fatal crash in Warkworth on Sunday the 22nd of November to provide them with any information that may help them piece together the circumstances.
The crash resulted in the death of local man, Christian Herbulot, after his car had come down Neville street and over the roundabout before becoming airborne over the playground and crashing into the Mahurangi river.
Several people jumped into the river and attempted to rescue Christian, but the driver’s door of the car was stuck in the mud.
Detective Senior Sergeant Nick Salter said police would like to hear from anyone that saw a Toyota Isis prior to the incident in the area or anyone who may have tried to assist Herbulot once he was in the river.

The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
