Police: Message to tractor/heavy machinery owners

If you own or operate a tractor and heavy machinery, you need to pay attention to this message.

Over the last two months, four tractors have been stolen from the Wellsford area during the evening, and there have been three commercial burglaries targeting heavy vehicles and machinery in Warkworth.

Police are calling on owners and operators to be vigilant that this offending is occurring in your community.

Enquiries are ongoing into this recent offending.

In many cases, the keys to these tractors and vehicles have been left inside.

We are finding thieves are breaking into property or premises and simply driving away with stolen property.

Police are urging owners to:

- Not to leave keys inside their tractors or heavy vehicles.

- To lock or secure all access doors, windows, and gates.

- To install tracking devices on their vehicles if possible.

Everyone can take small steps to make life difficult for thieves and help prevent equipment being stolen.
