Mangawhai Activity Zone (MAZ) proudly unveiled its new children's playground over the weekend, marking a significant milestone in the park's ongoing development. This modern facility replaces the ageing plastic tower, which, after more than a decade of service, no longer met current health and safety standards. You can read more here in our previous story.

The new playground has been designed to cater to children aged 12 months to 10 years, offering a safe and engaging environment for play and exercise.

The project, which cost $143,000, was made possible through generous community donations and the dedicated efforts of volunteers.

The official opening event saw a strong turnout from the local community, reflecting the widespread support and enthusiasm for the new facility. Attendees expressed appreciation for the enhanced play opportunities now available to the area's younger residents.

This latest addition to MAZ aligns with the broader Mangawhai Community Park Master Plan, which aims to enhance recreational amenities and green spaces for residents and visitors alike. The plan includes future projects such as additional play equipment, picnic facilities, and expanded walking and cycling tracks.

The successful completion of the new playground underscores MAZ's commitment to providing high-quality recreational facilities and fostering a vibrant, active community.
