Police would like to reassure our Warkworth community following a serious incident yesterday afternoon.

Police had stopped a vehicle at around 2:30pm on Old State Highway 1. A man fled from the passenger seat into the nearby bush and Police soon established he was a patched gang member who was breaching his EM bail and was wanted on serious charges.

Police were notified by a member of the public that the offender was in the Warkworth shopping centre area. Armed Police cordoned the area and took all precautious with the safety of the community our priority.

The man was eventually taken into custody and now faces further charges including two of possession of an offensive weapon, one of resisting Police and breaching his EM Bail conditions.
