The construction of a new pump track at Matakana’s Diamond Jubilee Park has been postponed until 1 November due to a last-minute resource consent requirement from Auckland Council.

Matakana Community Board chair Simon Barclay explained that the council imposed the requirement unexpectedly, creating a tight deadline. Despite Katherine Norman’s incredible effort—committing around three days of unpaid work to submit the consent—the council has not processed it within the promised timeframe.
After consulting with the contractors and project managers Dobbyn Builders, the decision was made to delay the project to avoid further uncertainty.
“Very disappointing, but it WILL happen,” said Barclay.
