As COVID 19 continues to spread around the country and Alert Level 3 coming into effect following the announcement of 32 new cases today. The Matakana Cinemas announced on Facebook that from tomorrow the Matakana Cinemas are closing their doors.

"Hi to all our loyal supporters and fans and wider community.

I'm very comfortable in announcing that I have made the decision to close from tomorrow for an indefinite period.

This is not on order from the government, purely my decision as the owner in the interests of my teams health and peace of mind as well as you, the public.

We have applied for and received the government wage subsidy so that in this tough time we can look after our employees financially.

The management team - Dan and Mathew - will still be working to answer any of your questions and process any refunds outstanding, though there are only a few.
