Our GOOD SORT this month is Peter Wyatt for his rescue of two lost walkers.

A couple of Saturdays ago, while we were all gearing up for the first All blacks game, Peter heard by chance through a social media group, that two women were lost in the vicinity of the Tamahunga Track.

It was mid-afternoon and knowing the area well, Pete quickly grabbed some warm clothing, headed up to the start of the track and hiked down into the pine forest.

With his HiVis and in phone contact, he was soon spotted by the police helicopter crew close to the cold and shivering walkers.

Further assistance soon arrived from the Police SAR Team and all emerged from the bush just on dark.

Well done Pete for your quick thinking and local knowledge. The Leigh Community Church has some well-deserved baking coming your way.
