A retail street in Auckland's Takapuna has been partly closed to traffic as emergency services respond to a building fire

Firefighters and police are working at a building fire in Barry's Point Road, in Takapuna, on the North Shore.

Police asked motorists to avoid Barrys Point Road while crews battled to contain the fire.

A detour had been set up, but they warned to expect traffic delays.
