A house fire in Epsom, on Maungawhau Road, sent plumes of smoke across the city, prompting concern from residents and onlookers.

The blaze quickly engulfed the house, with thick smoke spreading throughout the area which can be seen as far as North Shore.

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, working diligently to agressively control the fire and ensure the safety of any occupants. All people in the house have been accounted for and safe.

Nearby residents were advised to take precautions, keeping windows and doors closed to minimize smoke exposure.

The cause of the fire will be under investigation.
