Today there are 44 new cases of Covid-19, 23 confirmed and 21 probable cases. However, these were outnumbered by recovered cases, 56, meaning there is a drop in active cases. The combined total of confirmed and probable cases is 1,283.
There are 16 people in hospital, four of whom are in ICU, one each in Wellington, Counties Manukau, Waitemata, and Southern DHBs. Two of these patients are in critical condition.
There has been a second Covid-19 related death in New Zealand, a 90-year-old woman in Christchurch. She was one of a group of 20 residents transferred to hospital from Rosewood Rest Home as part of a cluster management process. The woman involved had “a number of age-related health conditions prior to testing positive”
