Lockdown is halfway done. Whether you've spent it catching up on work and exercise, or bingeing your favourite TV series, there's still plenty of time left to get things done around the house. Now is the perfect time to give everything a spruce up and make sure it's in top shape for when we are allowed visitors again.
Here are a few cleaning tips and hacks that could make your life a bit easier, without you having to make a trip to the supermarket for cleaning products.
Baking soda can help you out in a lot of different sticky situations. It can be used to clean dishwashers, fridges and stains on carpets. Got a clogged sink? Simply pour baking soda and vinegar down the sink, and watch the magic happen.
Coconut oil can be used in more than just cooking and beauty routines. If you rub a few teaspoons on surfaces like stainless steel or wooden furniture, it can brighten them right up, making them look as good as new.
Garbage disposal units can sometimes hold on to nasty smells. One way to remedy this is by making ice cubes from vinegar and slices of lemon and lime. Chuck them down the disposal while it's on to give it a good clean and make those smells disappear.
Water stains on shower glass can be frustrating to deal with. One surprisingly easy way to get rid of them is with shaving foam. Simply apply the foam to the stains, leave it for 15 minutes then wipe off for a sparkling clean shower.
As now is not really the time to pop down to the shop for more glass cleaner, making your own is easy. All you have to do is mix white vinegar, distilled water, drops of an essential oil and shake. This is an affordable and easy way to clean your windows, mirrors or even shower doors if you’re in a pinch.
No matter what your cleaning conundrum, there is sure to be a homemade fix for it.
