Yesterday afternoon A Defence Force Bomb disposal squad blew up a suspicious item on Orewa Beach.

The item was discovered on Orewa Beach at 2pm by a member of the public and notified police.

Police confirmed that a section of the beach was cordoned off on Saturday afternoon while the Defence Force bomb squad set up a cordon and disposed of the item.
