A Whangārei man reported as missing has been found dead.

The body was discovered at Parihaka Reserve by a member of the public on Thursday evening.

Police said he had been identified as Veon Smith, 48, who was reported missing on Sunday.

The death was not being treated as suspicious and had been referred to the coroner, police said.
