The Gafford Hamsters formed as a 5 piece band in Hamilton in 1985, and were busy on the local pub circuit for the next 18 months.

The band underwent quite a few lineup changes during that time but two of the founding members, Grant Shaw and Denis Newby, decided to resurrect the band as a bit of a project. They were pleased to be able to link up with former DD Smash drummer, Peter Warren, and so the band was reborn as a power three piece.

As you would expect, their music is from the classic rock era, but the guys have been known to play a bit of modern material along with a few original tunes as well.

Back in the eighties the Hamsters were known for their hard rocking shows and this is still their trademark, so if you’re looking for a packed dance floor at your next function then you really need to give them a call!
