Puhoi has some great walking options - either take a walk around the Puhoi Heritage Trail or join part of the Te Araroa Trail:

Puhoi Heritage Trail: 

Arrange a guided village tour at the Bohemian Museum - minimum group size of 10. The Village tour includes a visit to the museum, the church and other historical sites. Costs are $5 per person - call to book: 09 422 0852. (The Bohemian Museum is open daily from 12pm to 3pm except Christmas Day and Good Friday).

Puhoi Lookout Track:

Rising a spectacular 100 metres above the historic Puhoi village is the Puhoi Loop Track. The track takes approximately 40 minutes and will lead you up through bush and grasslands to a high point overlooking Puhoi village. Opened in early 2008 the Puhoi Lookout Loop is the first step connecting Te Araroa’s route north from Puhoi to Remiger Road.

Dunns Bush Track:

Part of the Te Araroa trail is the Arthur Dunn Bush Track. This 5 kilometer long track through mature bush and farmland starts at the intersection of Ahuroa Road and Remiger Road. Parts of the walk is over private land, so please be respectful of this and keep to marked tracks and don’t disturb the stock. Alternatively, start at the junction of Tolhopf and Ahuroa Road and go the extra 4 kilometer down Ahuroa road towards Puhoi. Don’t forget to stop at the Puhoi Cottage and Tea Rooms for a well deserved drink.
