Support Country Retreat Animal Sanctuary
Every week, we rescue dogs from all across Auckland and the North Island. They stay with us while we help them heal and adjust to a life free from suffering and hurt, and get ready to be adopted out to loving new homes. Some of that care requires veterinary services, medicine, and specialist training. As a not-for-profit charity, we rely on our generous donors to help cover these costs, so thank you very much for considering donating to Country Retreat Animal Sanctuary. We can't do it without you!
Finding the right home
We take care to match dogs with new owners. Some need space, others need a quiet home, and some won't mix well with other pets or young children. Please don't be offended if you can't adopt a particular dog.
Desexing
Before you apply to adopt, please know that desexing if mandatory if it has not yet been done. Desexing will generally be done before the dog is adopted out by our vet. If you prefer to have your own vet do this, it will be at your cost. Failure to abide by this is a breech of the adoption contract, and the dog will be removed and returned to the Animal Sanctuary – no exceptions.
Dogs are for life
Please remember that adopting a dog is a lifelong commitment. Dogs can often live for 15 years plus. They require love, attention, training, and there will be medical expenses along the way. So, make sure you are committed to the dog you choose.
