Mangawhai Snappers is a group photography exhibition showcasing the diverse visual voices of seventeen local photographers whose work explores the themes of identity, place, memory, and transformation. Ranging from landscape to macro, urban to intimate, each artist brings a unique lens—both literal and metaphorical—to the shared goal of storytelling through imagery.
United by a passion for visual narrative and experimentation, the group first came together three years ago when Grant Crowe and Barbara Jacomb had an idea. A group where we shared ideas and learned from each other through workshops, field trips and homework exercises. All abilities, all types of photographic devices just a love of photography. Their work reflects a deep engagement with both personal and collective histories. While their styles vary—from stark black-and-white to macro, abstract to landscape, nature to minimalism to richly layered digital compositions—their images speak, inviting viewers to question how we see the world and how photography frames our understanding of it.
The second Snapper exhibition showcases their latest work, offering a glimpse into the individual photographers evolving perspective and visual storytelling.
