Ponsonby’s own Jubilation Choir is thrilled to return to Leigh Sawmill with a feast of a capella gospel, soul and R&B, perfectly paired with the beautiful sea breeze and coastal vibes of one of their favourite venues.
DOORS OPEN at 5pm SHOW STARTS at 6pm
Jubilation Choir has been celebrating the naked human voice in all its glory since they got together 25 years ago to sing songs in the gospel a cappella tradition. In recent years they’ve branched out in the same way gospel left the fields and found a city groove, interpreting artists like Prince & Joan as Police Woman, and placing them comfortably alongside old gospel favourites such as Blind Willie Johnson, Thomas A Dorsey and that wunderkind ‘Trad’. It’s a groovy mix of the divine and the profane, the sweet and the raucous, Americana meets Aotearoa.
What the world needs now is more harmony, so expect plenty of life affirming, joyful vocal vibes guaranteed to raise the roof!
“I joined a bevy of others in the sold-out community hall and had our spirits massaged and lifted by the Jubilation Choir!” Denis O'Reilly | Aug 25, 2024 for E-TANGATA
