Covid-19 has claimed two more lives, bringing New Zealand's death toll to four, Caroline McElnay, the Director of Public Health, announced today. Both people died yesterday. One, a man in his 80s, died at Wellington Public Hospital, and the other, a man in his 70s, at Burwood Hospital in Christchurch. The Christchurch case was part of the Rosewood Rest Home cluster. The woman in her 90s who died on Friday was also linked to this cluster. The man who died in Wellington was also linked to another existing cluster

There are 29 new cases: 20 confirmed and nine probable.

McElnay said 422 people had recovered from Covid-19, an increase of 49 on yesterday, “and we continue to report more people recovered than new confirmed cases”.

The combined total of confirmed and probable cases is 1,312. There are 15 people in hospital with Covid-19, including five in ICU, one each in Wellington, Middlemore, Hawkes Bay, Dunedin and North Shore hospitals. One patient is in a critical condition.
